I've missed blogging

I used to blog a lot, but life got busy and I forgot to keep putting my crazy thoughts out there for the world to see.  I just remembered that I like to do that, so here is my new blog.

I was reading some of the blog posts that I made when my kids were much smaller (I stopped blogging in early 2006) and when I was homeschooling my daughter and I was reflecting on a discussion that took place on a board that I love recently.

There was a blog article about "crunchy" parenting and how some people use it as a way to measure and judge other people's parenting skills, decisions, style, whatever.  My response was that perfect parenting or parenting according to plan was so much easier when my kids were still young enough to be always in a sling or always at the breast.  While many of my ideals and goals remain the same, sometimes my goal is to get through the day without dropping the "f bomb" on my kids and sometimes I am glad to drop them off at school in the morning because I've had enough.  I am always happy to see them at the end of the day, though.

I try to give myself a little bit of slack when I have to change the plan or when I realize that I am not the parent I thought I was when my kids were very small and hadn't really required much "parenting skills".  They're just lucky that I think about things like that, I think.
